Having started it's fashion journey as Dominion Clothing on July 01, 1919, first generation tailor and family man Samuel Citron introduced his gift of the trade. He made men of the day look and feel great by making structured and comfortable suits with all the trimmings, shirts, ties, shoes, and hats, therefore creating both friends and longtime customers.
Around the late 1950's he would pass on to his son Norman Citron, second generation, who would then rename the business Mr. Norman's Menswear as he continued to tailor and began to add a cool 1960's flare by introducing more fun and playful fashion and accessories for men.
As the 1970's approached the interior of the shop went through a renovation to reflect the constant changes in fashion and on the street. In 1972 a new hip and colourful shop emerged with decor and signage making the new renamed Cat's Cradle a store to watch. As the 1980's approached the Cat's began a designer line of clothing under the Cat's Cradle Label. Introducing cool, colourful, and fun knitwear which recreated itself with the education of accessories to charge it's shape and feel making the styles of clothing ever more wearable.
The 1980's were full of life which cooled in the 1990's, so once again the Cat's Cradle began to change it's skin. Starting late 2006 early 2007, third generation son Mark Joel Citron along with staff members and many friends new and old assisted the Cat's Cradle in the renewing itself with yet another renovation to the front of the building, returning this historic toronto building to its natural brick and stone as well as adding a touch of modern architecture with a gloreous 14 feet high front window trimmed in brushed matte metal and finishing the look with a old world style wrought iron gate to the entrance of the boutique.
The fashion has been upgraded to reflect mostly Canadian clothing designers and Jewelry artisans supporting both locally and nationwide. We have also have included imports in our collection from New York,Italy, Israel, France, Germany, Africa, Austria, Asia, Thailand, Brasil, and California. The boutique also includes finishing touches with accessories such as belts, handbags, and sunglasses that are richly displayed within the new decor. For the family and staff, this fashion journey has been magical and it continues....
